Since a bull's potential for antler growth strongly affects his value and that of his progeny, the International Antler Competition, the culmination of five regional competitions that take place in July, is one of the most important events of the year. The first competition, in the velvet antler division, boasted several sets of antler that cut over 30 pounds, but a recent competition featured a set that weighed 50 pounds. Additionally, the hard antler division has provided the largest sets of hard antler in the world.  The competition and the tradeshow that coincides with it are open free to the public.
